ABOUT US

Although only recently becoming a Company, Snowfield Gas & Plumbing has been a business entity in the Snowy Mountains for many years.

Rob Helsby (Director) has a family history in plumbing originating from his grandfather forming a partnership in the central business district of Sydney in the early 1900's. His grandfather then formed a Company with his 3 sons prior to World War II to be known as T Helsby & Sons Pty Ltd, a firm that is still trading today although not owned by any Helsby family members.

Rob underwent his apprenticeship during the late 1960's and early 70's where upon completion of his trades course, joined the LHO group of hydraulic consultants and was involved in plumbing design and planning of hospitals, schools and multi storey buildings.

After a brief visit to the snowy mountains area and a season working at Thredbo, decided to relocate to the area and in 1982 began plumbing as a sole trader within the snowy mountains. As the workload expanded a partnership was formed with another local plumber (R&D Plumbing). It wasn't long before the partnership was providing their service to many corporate, commercial and residential clients.

After being involved with R&D Plumbing for 10 years Rob and his partner Annie decided to branch out, and built a commercial rental property at Leesville Industrial Estate. Snowfield Gas & Plumbing was formed in July 1996. Once again the workload increased and soon Rob found he needed employees, now employing 2 apprentices and 1 fully qualified plumber.

Rob Helsby
Rob is a highly professional, is pedantic and takes great pride in the quality of workmanship and expects his employees to have the same high standard. He is highly organised and carries most materials required in his work vehicle.

Keith Maynard
Is a first year, mature age student very keen and eager to be involved in the plumbing industry, after selling his farm at Yeoval in central west of NSW and moving to Jindabyne. He is married with 2 sons and previously worked for Elgas and Jindabyne Plumbing Supplies.

Walter Lee
Started tech at CIT in Canberra and to his credit achieved the Apprentice of the Year for 2002 and 2003. Finished his trade apprenticeship in 2004, he is now a Journeyman and enjoys all aspects of plumbing. His workmanship is of a high standard and can competently lend his hand to any task given. Snowfield Gas & Plumbing are proud to have Walter as a part of the team.

Darren Wait
Previously worked in Sydney for 8 years on highrise and large construction 4 years on kitchen and bathroom renovation including all aspects of renovation work.
2 years at Thredbo treatment plant as plant operator.
Married with 4 children

Steve Vassallo
Steve subcontracts to us when he is not required for other work commitments.
His forte is drainage. He knows Thredbo and has probably worked in/on every building in Thredbo. He is currently constructing his house in Corryong Vic.

THE SNOWY MOUNTAINS IS OUR DOMAIN covering Jindabyne, Thredbo, Charlottes Pass, Perisher , Smiggin Holes, Guthega, Berridale, Dalgety, Cooma Eucumbene, Adaminaby and all places in between. We are prepared to travel to where there is a problem.
